Gary Millar is an experienced entrepreneur, business adviser, presenter, public speaker and politician. In his professional capacity, Gary created and designed Parr Street boutique HOTEL, PodZzz & STUDIO2 (Independent Magazine's UK top 50 best bar); co-created, co-founded and organised major events including Aintree Festival of Motorsport, bringing 300 historic cars worth £70 million to Liverpool's historic Grand Prix track; he has invented two building products, has produced 6 music albums, and broadcasts on radio.
Gary is a diplomat and former politician, he is a former Lord Mayor of Liverpool, former Vice Mayor of Liverpool, Mayoral Lead for Business and International Relations. Liverpool Business Ambassador at home and overseas, in which role he leads Liverpool’s investment, trade and business relationships with China. Gary has visited China on a number of occasions to promote Liverpool, represent the City at events and meet with Government Agencies, businesses and investors.
In April 2022, Gary was awarded the Recognition Award at the Greater China Awards hosted by Department for International Trade North West, for his significant contribution in developing links for UK businesses and institutions within Greater China.
Gary has an expert knowledge of Liverpool’s investment opportunities and key growth sectors, strong links with Liverpool’s Chinese community and an extensive network of contacts in Liverpool companies, property developers, universities and agencies doing business with China. He is familiar with hosting delegations from China and is confident Chinese investment interest in Liverpool will continue to increase.
